Free Hostel & Integrated Education Programme for Disabled Children (IEDC)
We have been running a hostel for disabled children under the Integrated Education for Disabled Children (IEDC) Programme in Mandur, Bangalore and East of Banaglore Urban District. Our organization has appointed a warden, cook, and maid in the hostel to ensure complete comfort to these children. Four special teachers are giving tuition to these children and regular parents meetings are conducted periodically.
Free books, stationeries, and uniforms are provided to the target children every year. Besides that aids and appliances are also distributed to the needy disabled children. Moreover, the orientations on disability and medical camps for the disabled children as well as general public, referral services, etc are also carried out. We also celebrate ‘World Disabled Day’ every year to bring awareness in the society.
Since 1992, VEDS has been running Integrated Education Programme for Disabled Children (IEDC) in Bangalore East Taluk of Bangalore Urban District and Devanahally Taluk and Hoskote Taluk of Bangalore Rural District. We have been running this programme under the existing government and private management schools of our operational areas. Our specially trained teachers are handling multi category disabled children such as hearing impaired, mentally retarded, visually impaired, etc. and take classes for such children.
