Ujjawala
Another milestone of our organization in carrying out the developmental programmes for the target population is execution of a project called “Ujjawala” (means lighting a lamp in one’s life), a centrally sponsored programme in Bangalore Urban district. This project related to combating trafficking. Trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse, of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs (UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress & Punish Trafficking in Persons especially women and children). Other ActivitiesApart from these activities, we have been involved in other areas of development such as Agricultural, Water Issues (Community Based Approach), Women Empowerment, Dalits and Tribal Development, Education, Health, Cultural Programme, Trainings, Promotion of SHGs, Small Family Norms, People’s Organization, Environment, Ecology, Child Care, etc for the past 18 years.
